A custom-designed turbocharged Subaru Impreza STI, a legendary all-wheel-drive car, was converted into a dedicated camera tracking vehicle.

THE FALCON

The Falcon is our in-house, custom-designed high-speed camera chase vehicle. equipped with customised 2-axis robotic arms, Three-stage vibration dampening, paired together with either the DJI - RONIN 2, FREEFLY - MOVI XL or the mightiest of remote heads available, such as the latest MOTORCRANE - TITAN. Allowing for a wide range of camera build options or specific user preferences.

SUBARU IMPREZA STI

At the core of our setup is a Subaru Impreza 2.5 Turbo STI AWD, specially modified for seamless, dynamic high-speed filming. This powerful, all-wheel-drive chase vehicle is purpose-built for performance, stability, and precision on set.

Mounted on the vehicle are two custom-built “Big Arms”, our enhanced version of the well-known “Black Arm,” engineered to easily handle a payload of up to 50kg. It supports a fully loaded Flighthead Mini 3, the latest Motorcrane Titan, or the Freefly Movi XL. A dedicated arm operator offers the ability to reposition the remote head from the front to the rear of the vehicle (or vice versa) without needing to Re-Rig, dramatically streamlining the shooting process.

Two robotic arms provide motorised pan vertical travel, enabling responsive and smooth camera movement from both front and rear positions, or even simultaneously, for those bold enough to try it. “The Falcon” is a vertical lifter for remote heads and or also be used stationary.

The Subaru Impreza STI was selected for its low centre of gravity and superb cornering ability, allowing us to stay locked onto the hero vehicle through intense, action-packed sequences. Compared to traditional pipe rig setups, our system is faster to deploy and adjust, saving valuable time on set while delivering cinematic, high-impact tracking shots.
